What intake for pickups
hey, im new to the forums, but i thought it would be a good way to learn about 4x4's and what i can do to my truck. Any way i had a couple questions what is a good intake system for my 1991 pickup, v6, 4x4. Im thinking K&N unless anyone knows a better one. Also what about hi-flow cats. I just got a flowmaster 40 series muffler installed, and i still have my old stock cat so what kind should i get. thanks.

There has been sone noise being made lately about high flow cats taking away too much back pressure and robbing you of low to midrange torque. If you cat is not clogged leave it and if it is clogged replace it with a standard flow honeycomb design rather than the old baffle type cat. High flow cats are for high reving or high volume exhaust motors like VTEC Hondas and V8s, not long stroke slow reving normaly aspirated Toyota truck motors. A 2.25 inch cat back exhaust and high flow muffler is the best bang for the buck. It will keep your low end and improve your top end some.
Intake... There is a good debate about that. Amsoil guys swear by Amsoil filters. K&N guys swear by the KIPK. The jury will be out forever on that issue. Some think K&N lets in too much dirt along with the extra air. Its all about who's marketing stragety and propaganda you believe. Hard facts are few and far between.
