want to clear 32 on a 86 runner...body lift?

hey, first off i know i could search all over the board and find everyting i need to know, but im not in a hurry and just curiouse what your thoughts were on this. should i use a 1" body lift and a mild torque on the torsion bar to clear 32X11.5's or should i just wait take the money i got from the body lift, "i figure about 120 bucks when through) and save the rest for a full on 4" suspension lift? and how much would it cost to have a superlift installed? just rough estimates, dont know if its gonna be 300 or 1000 or a buck! no clue.

thanks

my 32's used to be on an 88 runner, and his was completely stock, and he had no problems running them.

My 32s did rub a tiny bit at first and I have a 1.5 body lift. I trimmed small 4 inch long triangles off of the inner fender plastic up front and they have not touched since. Do you have mudflaps? That changes things.

I think if I had stock bumpstops it would not rub on 32s. I use ultra low profiles.

In the rear they will fit for sure if you have stock backspaced wheels.

yeah, they rubbed on my 94 pickup, dont care that much just gets annoying, but i found out i may be getting an even better deal on my 86 runner, mabey 300 or free!! WHOOPPEE! oh, and if that happens, 5"superlift will be tucked away under there nicely!

thanks for the help though guys,

on mine

on my 88 i cranked the torsions and add a leafs in the rear to clear my 32's and they still rubbed a lil so i had to cut a lil bit off the inside of the finder like an inch or 2 of plastic. and the install for a superlift 4 inch is around 400-500 at 4wheelparts but 4wheeldrive parts center in ga. told me they won't even install that lift b/c it pulls out ball joints and they don't wanna get sued. if i were gonna save up for a 4 inch which i am i would get the 4 inch procomp lift.

I had 32x11.5 wild country's on my 86 with no problems. The torsion bars were cranked, and I added 2" blocks under the rear springs.

Before with 32's cranked T bars, and 2" suspension blocks in rear

After with 3" body lift to clear the 35's. much better IMO.

Yes, the blocks are still in the rear between the axle and the leafs. The T bars are still cranked, and the 3" body lift is installed.

thanks alot

thanks alot man, that looks really good. it seems like you can't even really tell it's a body lift in that pic. looks really good and now it's kinda pushing me that way. it's either that or a procomp 4 inch. not sure yet but with you pic, it looks like i'm safe to go with either b/c they both look nice. thanks alot man

The pro comp would be nice, but this body lift only cost me $50 and about 3 hrs of labor. I have a tight budget for wheeling and ya can't beat the price....

Only thing I do not like, is the tank hangs down a little. It has not been a problem for me yet, but I will probably remount the tank someday.

If your thinking going with a pro-comp, maybe consider SAS?

hmm

although it would be a dream to have a sas i can't due to budget and i wouldn't even know the frist thing to get that problem started. Do you have any problem's shifting with the body lift on, do it ever pop out of gear b/c of the lift or do you drive an auto?

It's an auto..

With the body lift, I had to extend the steering wheel shaft, and extend the shifter linkage. You also have to make sure, the brake lines, coolant hoses, and fuel lines/hoses all can still reach.
Mine were fine.... entire job took about 3 hrs.

Should be able to fit 32s, depending on width and backspacing on the wheels. You can always crank up the torsion bars up front, mabe some longer shackles in back, or a 1" body lift can help if the rubbing is more sever, no need to modify much of anything at that height:
