i'm taking a class at the local community college in the fall, as a welding refresher course so i can get my cert(been welding for 4 years). i have a buddy who started in the summer, and said they have a mandrel bender

i'm already drooling

Just because I've seen a lot of people (even "pros") misuse this word, a mandrel bender has a slug that sits inside the tube at the bend point which keeps the tube from collapsing. They're usually pretty big machines (some are 20' long or more) and they're very expensive, for some reason I can't see a community college having one...

I was thinking the very same thing shane, they are huge/bulky machines, and the funny part is, the quality of the benders these days, there is zero need for such a tool as a mandral bender, heck, not even nascar uses them...

I have also thought about getting some certs on welding, but just no time for that (15 years welding)
