truck totaled, what next?

so my 99 Tacoma is a "total loss" what this means for me is: the loan is paid off, get to keep the truck, and $1000+
some how they assigned a value of 7800 to the truck and I only paid 6000 for it.

the bad, front bumper needs work, frame may be bent in front of suspension, the radiator is toast, the radiator support was driven up, the factory skid plate is dead.

I already have the steel to make a better skid plate, and to make a new radiator support... I don't have it back yet so I haven't been able to check out the frame there is one plate of steel in the bumper that I`ll have to cut out and replace, may be a little more, there is some minor body stuff that doesn't matter to me sense its going to be a salvage title. also going to start cutting her up, clear out the fenders and trim the back of the bed....

so what to do with the extra 1000 ?

before ya`ll say locker I'm already getting Spartans for it. and already started an OBA project. (that was put on hold after the crash)

right now I'm leaning towards
a plasma cutter.
or a welder and a torch
or ballpoint control arms and alloy axle shafts for the rear....

edit ball joint *

Shock package? Unless you already have a pretty nice shop to supplement, a welder/plasma torch doesn't do a whole lot without other tools

Ya been thinking about shocks.
I have shop in progress, air, stick welder, metal chop saw, etc. But the mig / plasma are on hold again just dropped 1500 on crap for work.

Very cool, I'm jealous! Then a mig welder would be great to have...$500 will get you one on craigslist, then spend the rest on shocks!

You paid $6000, valued @ $7800, you get $1000, what happened to the $800? That is a weird amount for a deductible...
