tire selection

hello all. i'm new to the site and to toyotas. i bought a 89 4x4 , 5 spd, 22re. so far i have changed all of the fluids , gave it a tune up, changed the fuel filter, installed new shocks and ordered a high flow cat(not installed yet). the truck only has 130,00 miles on it and i love it. it needs tires. i live in illinois . i need a tire good for snow and mud . i have bfg all terrains on my 3/4 ton ram that i plow snow with. they are a awesome tire. i haven't really had them in mud. so i don't know how they do. i am going to use my toyota for work, trails and hunting.my hunting land is 20 miles away. would mud tires do good in the snow? i have heard alot of mixed reviews about mud tires in snow. i know it's a stupid ? but i'm on a very limited budget. thank you for any info you have .

I have found that mud tires do quite well in snow. The knobby tread chews through it quite well, however you will find the mud tires not as good on ice as all terrains. I run Cooper SST mudders (size 33-12.5-15) and they are GREAT in snow and slush, but on ice they are a bit touchy. I adjust my driving accordingly, sometimes lower the pressure for more traction, and have had no problems. m2cw.

i have pro comp mud terrains 35 in. theyre great in the snow, and good in icey conditions as long as you know how to drive on icey roads.

however i wouldnt buy procomps again, they dont have much sidewall tread and they wear out faster than the bfg mud terrains i used to have.
