stock wheels, yea or nah?

If I lift my truck 2" and get bigger tires, do I have to get a wheel with different back spacing to fit the tires. In particular the 255/85-16 mt on the truck in my sig. the only reason I ask is because I like my stock rims and would get another set to run mts on if they would work, and my bro just got the wheelers offroad 15s that should work on trucks with 16s from the factory,........but they still rub on the calipers. WTF? Anyway, drop the knowledge por favor!

Generally, the stock backspacing allows for the largest diameter, skinny tire to stay out of the fenders. You may have a slight issue with rubbing the frame though, although IMHO better to rub the frame than the fenders. Fenders rip off

2" isn't going to be enough for 255-85-16 on a Tacoma though.

a friend of mine in OH ran 33x10.50 BFG MT's (slightly smaller than the 255/85) and had like 2.5" fabtech coilovers and needed a 1" body to keep the tires out of the firewall.

Yeah, 2" isn't enough. You'll need more lift, or a body lift and some trimming to clear the tires. The good news though, your wheels will work just fine. My tires rub the frame at full lock, but nothing major. Different backspacing may help this, but it could also cause issues/rubbing in other places.
