Like shane said, we modify our tires to make them work better. I know here in the midwest, if i wanted a set of tires for every terrain i wheel on, i would have about 5 sets of tires, and would be changing them constantly.

I groved my TSL's pretty good, i cut out the center of each big center tread block, i cut each large outside lug one way, and then cut each mid size outside lug a different direction. I left the small ones. I started siping alternating center lugs, but that got old fast. Ill be taking the grooving iron to them again soon, just to see if i can get them to work even better.

Since grooving them, my wet weather traction has improved, they work better in the rocks, they clean just as well in mud, and they are wearing slower. They still suck in the sand. Then again they are 10.75" wide and are on a 6500 pound truck.

Id say for an hour with the grooving iron it is a worthwhile thing to do.

100% some local boob bought a set to go to the Rubicon with, needless to say, he could not even get over the entrance rock. He does know how to wheel but he's not the brighest bulb in the bag.

I still swear by My Yokohama AT's I have only taken them through Martinez Canyon in AZ, Aftershock at the Hammers in California and all over Moab Utah. So what do I know.

Now now... I wasn't talking about your AT's... I was talking about the Thornchickens, in relation to the " all you need is a lot of HP to make them self clean " comment... :pat: They clog just like AT's do... THAT's what I meant...

I'd take a set of Geolander's or Xterrain's (which is also in the AT category in my opinion) over some Thornchickens any day.... MAYBE some BFG AT's...

Thats because you get to wheel on dry rock.
