Supra rear LSD swap to front diff

I have a 7.5" Supra rear end with a factory LSD and a 4runner with a 7.5" front open diff. Can I use the LSD in the front diff of my truck? I know the ring and pinion are different front to rear, but if I use the 4runner's ring and pinion with the supra diff, will that work? Does anyone know whether the axle spline will match the supra diff?

I went to the supplied link and looked at the topic named "Zuk-my Supra 3rd needs a health check".

Looking at the pics of the disassembled differential, I see one thing that you could do to improve the action of the limited slip differential.

I noticed (and the guy doing the disassembly also noticed) that not all of the drive (turned by the carrier) and driven (sends torque to the axle shafts)clutch plates are in alternating order (drive-driven-drive-driven, etc.). I see (from top to bottom in the pic) drive-drive-driven-driven-driven-drive-driven-drive.

If you simply rearranged the plates so that they alternate (starting with the drive plate up against the side gear like it is now), there will be more contact area between the drive and driven plates, which will transfer more torque to the wheel that is not spinning.

This is a common trick with the Ford Traction-Lok limited slip differential that comes stock in the 8.8" rear axle. By rearranging the clutch plates, the notoriously weak Ford limited slip actually has decent performance.

I don't know about the Toyota limited slip, but with the Ford unit, you can also pack and extra plate or two in there, which gives even more contact area and a little more preload (because the preload spring has more pressure against it). Just make sure that you don't pack it so tight that it causes damage. On rare occasions, the Ford carrier has been known to split due to having too many plates.

I just thought I would mention that in case you wanted better off road performance from a limited slip.

Bump--i am curous about this also--could we use a clutch type LSD for the front (7.5" supra). thoughts being that if i went locking hubs up front and only used the LSD while wheeling it would last for quite some time before i had to rebuild it.
