SuperBrightLeds.com LED Off Road Bar
My latest gadget is a LED light bar. Now I've always wanted to setup some sort of LED light system (low power consumption) but jesus the prices are INSANE!!! The top name brands are astronomically priced! Yes new LED tech is a little pricey and still developing but $1600-$2000 for a nice 40-50" bar is ridiculous. I dont care if it'll support the weight of my truck, big deal (when will i ever drive over it???), the aluminum housing does NOT justify the insane up charge. Besides if I was gonna mount one over cab, or anywhere for that matter I'll sure as hell be protecting it with steel.
So, Superbrightleds.com has had a short lineup of LED light bars for awhile now, marginally priced but theyre small, theyre not really "bars". Which is cool, theyre still bright.
Then not long ago they got two new products in (yes made in china, what isnt?) 36w for $99.95 and a 72w for $169.95
36w https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...ight-bar/1221/
72w https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...-product/1218/
the 36w looked good for my rear flood. Since ive had no reverse lights for over 4 years ive been on the lookout for a nice solution, this looked like it. Ordered it.
Haven't installed it yet just got it, but hooked it up to the battery to see how bright it was. It's brighter than the picture on superbrights page. Perfect for a rear flood/reverse (probably piss people off in parking lots, YES!)
I will probably use a 20" 120w LED light bar for my front from http://www.trailworthyfab.com/LED-Light-Bars and mount it in a flat hoop off my bumper instead of on the cage above the cab. I dont have the cage finished yet and probably wont for god knows how long but i want forward light before winter gets bad, i hated not having any lights during last years storms.
Here is the 36w light i got,

and here's a shot of it lighting up my side yard

the picture is a little over exposed but not by much. I just want more light up front over all.. wasnt looking for a sun beam off my tail end, just something that flooded the world so i can see when im backing up!!!
cheers

Keep in mind, the beam pattern for both this 36w and 72w (which is a double row version of the 36w model) are FLOOD. They are not "COMBI" designs as you will see on other LED bars that focus some lights on BEAM and others to FLOOD to get that wide angle. This is a CHEAP alternative to the expensive units on the market if you're just looking for some light.
For me, i hardly ever use high beams, let a lone some flood lights so going the cheaper unit route makes sense. Id get nicer units if you relied heavily on flood lights. IMO
