Sonoran Steel IFS Truss

well I am not sure if this is the right place to post this so moderaters feel free to move if necessary.

anyway, my 31" tires are on their last leg and im going to 33's. i really want to add an IFS truss from Sonoran Steel http://www.sonoransteel.com/Early_IFS_Brace.html to beef up the front end before i get the bigger meats. i have the Ball Joint Spacers and recognize the added stress and the importance of adding this relitively cheap brace before i do more damage that is not reversable. the website says they are unavailable and after e-mailing steve i now understand why. a lot of work is involved in making these and there isnt too much money being made. ok i get it. Steve said he would resume production sometime in the fall and needed 12-15 people lined up and ready to buy trusses to start production again. Now i know a lot of people run the BJ spacers on this board and need the added strength so i wanted to hopefully spark interest in 12-15 people to purchace one so i could get one sooner!!! maybe a group buy? maybe I'm not getting it but i think everyone who wheels IFS should have one of these.

How much was he wanting for these trusses?

It doesn't look too hard to have someone fab one up for you? How much are you willing to pay for a knock off?

I've got one. I've got the first one. Not that that makes any difference, i just wanted to be smug for a moment.

It is hands down the beefiest part on my truck. Including my frame.

Let me give you a hint: the pipe used to build the front driveline gap is like 400-500 bucks a stick.

The tube used for the main part of the truss is a very rare size and runs 200 +/- a stick.

As for Steve building stuff, he builds what sells. No sense building something then sitting on it. Its been covered.

For those who wish to purchase from vendors like steve, who are excellent fabricators, let me give you some advice:

Pick up the phone, Credit Card in hand, and call Steve. Talk to him about what you are thinking, get a good design, pay him money, and he'll build you just about anything. Everything i've bought from the man has been top notch, and sturdy. If it can be done, he'll do it. If you want bumpers, etc, you drive your truck down to see him, and it will fit like a glove and handle rock hit after rock hit.

I too have one of the first ones. I really can't believe that more people didn't jump on these things. Of course, now everyone wants one.

When 12 people with $100.00, yes it's now $100.00 not $88.00 anymore, price of steel keeps going up, I have no control over that. I will make more.

I will clear the schedule and make the 12. If it takes 1 day or 1 year. It's not going to happed until I get 12 people.

Why? Because last time "everyone" wanted one, I made them and I sold 2 or 3 and then rest over the next 9 months. That in my book is not a real big demand.

I am not real sure people realize this but Sonoran Steel is a very successful company, we put in 8-10 hour days 5-6 days a week. All pretty much on 1996-2002 4Runner parts. I have plenty of work and even a few employees that TIG weld for me in addition to Stubbs who I still feed quite a bit to as well. These trusses were supposed to be filler work, but we have not had any down time lately.

Call your order in and put your money down and when we hit 12, I will make a load of them.

At $100 I am willing to pay for one, however I am not willing to hand over $100 for an undefined period of time in hopes 11 other people will come out of the wood work to place an order.

Seems we have a Mexican stand-off here.

So how does a group buy work? Do 12 of us sign up here in this thread, you commit to production by scheduling a firm date and then we all call you and pay to play?

If that's how it works, count me first in line.

Find 11 more people and have everyone call on the same day. I still don't think there is a demand. Show me there is. This post confirms that even you don't think there are 11 more people.

The way it works is when I have 12 people with money, I build them. I would take your CC number and info and you would not get billed until the parts get built. So your not really paying up front, you pay when there are 12 orders and the parts are made.

UPS Ground shipping is additional, just so we are all on the same page.

i started the thread...i obviously want one.(MONEY IN HAND)

but reading through it all,all 15 or so posts.; i've counted maybe three people, including me that are seriously interested. Steve has a valad point.***(Steve if the ranting continues other then people showing interest in your product i will have this deleted)*** i never intended this thread for a place to critique business practices or for others to voice an opinion that really has no place here. i started this thread to promote interest in a product i want to buy and hopefully spark enough, ooh say 12 or more to put up the bling for a IFS truss. if the demand exists, which i think it does; then people who want one post here and when we get 12 or more we can start making phone calls to fork over the cash. if you don't want a truss then there is really no reason to post here IMO.

Bryon4, This is your thread, but start a list of people ready to buy and maybe we can get this thing done. I'm a for sure thing, but rather pay cash over C.C. . Besides I'm also not that far from his shop....

Downey has the same one. I'd rather have the Sonoran.

Thats right. Not bulky. You can watch it bend like a wet noodle when you whack it on the rocks. Those stupid trusses are why the sonoran one was developed. Bump for a great product.

Ok, I will keep a running total in how many order I have toward the 12 trusses. At the close of business on 7-5-2007:

Zero (0) of 12: IFS Truss Orders

I was just able to check my email and read this thread again. What's up people? If you really are in need of one of the best products for our trucks lets get this done. If there is no response, Steve will just go on doing what he has been doing, make great other products. He will wait till he gets enough requests and fill the orders.

I for one am on Steve waiting list in hope he can get to make some soon. Stop the talk and order one NOW and stop BITCHIN....

I'll buy one as soon as it is available. You have my contact info.

Those rear bumpers sound real nice...

Do they have a receiver for pulling a trailer?

thats the thing. they will not become available unless you fork over the money before hand. give him a call and place an order. you wont be charged until your product is made and shipped. (I think)
