shackle angle

shackle angle
I put a 4" trail-gear rear lift kit on my 93 pickup and I'm wondering why my shackles are angled the way they are. Right now the rear axle housing is hung off the leafs with no 3rd member or axle shafts in it and my shackles are angled / forward not backwards. I moved the spring hangers 5" forward center of the bolt to center of the bolt. Is this because there's no weight on the springs of do the spring hangers need to be moved? Any help is great thank you!

I'm not much help but this might help you out. As far as the angle, I would tack the hangers on check angle, then untack and move as needed and after your pinion angle is set, then finish weld it. Of course you can use shims as well, but since your welding new perches on I would thing it's better to weld them on at the correct angle to begine with and avoid the shims altogether.
