A same but different problem with OME 891s height

ok.. so i installed OME 891s in my 99 4runner last night... i took into consideration that they 2 coils are differnt heights... so i put the right one (the taller) in the drivers side... and the short Left side on the right ( yes i switched them according to the previous posts) ... but now instead of the right side being taller, the drivers side is almost an inch taller than the right.... so did i get american OME coils... the ones that i dont have to switch? i bought them used so i do not know.... im going to fill up the tank and make sure theyre seated.. but im 99.99% sure theyre seated right....

uhh.....I think I put the taller one on the drivers side for my 891's.

I think it's supposed to be for gas tank weight. I doubt it's your panhard bar doing that much of a difference.

Where did you measure it at? Don't forget that almost any piece of cement is NOT flat, as it either runs water off it or towards a drain. I was tripping that I screwed up after I lifted mine, but the side closest to the drain is probably indeed an inch or two lower than the outside wall. Same with roads, they are crested in the middle so water runs off. I'm not saying you're springs are right or not right, just find a better place to measure if that is the case.

I had a similiar issue, the taller one I put on the driver side, but even with a full tank they were never even. Until I went wheeling a few times and I hard a LOUD snap. My springs must not have been seated right because after that "snap" it seemed to have evened out. (still off by 1/4 of an inch)

I put in 890s and had maybe 1/4 " higher on the driver's side. Something just doesn't sound right if you are on flat ground and 1" off side to side. Look at the top and bottoms of the springs and make sure both are seated in the perches correctly. Also if you have to, then remove them and double check that the higher one goes on the gas tank side....it doesn't matter what market they were made for, the taller of the two goes on the driver's side. The difference should be obvious when the springs are put side by side.

The only thing you will see without the drop bracket is the axle sitting to the right a bit. Basically the right rear wheel will stick out a bit farther than the left. A drop bracket will recenter the axle to close to the stock position.

My 891s (with long coil on the left side) give me a slightly uneven lift...the drivers side is a bit taller. I can attribute that to me tire carrier and Powertank weight weighing down my right rear. It doesn't bother me but I may swap them side to side when I add my Cornfed spacers this weekend to see if that levels it out.

Since your coils were used when you bought them I would place them on the sides that give you the most level stance.

OME 881/890 N86C/N91SC Lift
not to hijack the thread, but that is the exact lift setup i'm planning on getting. are you happy with it, and is the front and rear pretty much level?

no. Don't go for the OME's. They sagged a lot in the front for me. Rear OME's are fine, just not the fronts.
