rockcrawler rims

I went to a local 4wheel parts store and asked them for 16" black rockcrawler rims. They told me that no matter what size I get, the caliper will rub the inside of the rim. Is this true? Anyone else have this problem. It seems to be an issue with the 3rd gens.

Huh? Why would you want all that BS?? Like 3.5-3.75 is standard for 8's. I would try to get the same for 10's also.

Thats just the stock BS, and people have problems with them sticking out further (hitting pinchweld).

As for the ÅÅÅÅtard that gave you that advice that not even 20's will work, go tell him to jump off a cliff and land on a sharp rock.

Actually... the center section of the rim is the same for any and all backspacings. When the punch the wholes in the center section it creates a curl on the stell, well for looks too. That curl has clearance issues on the front calipers on 95.5+ toyotas. He is correct.. .ask WATRD, Rob drummels his Daytona (les schwab rockcrawlers) wheels, you can also run a .25" spacer.

The size, width, and BS of the rim has nothing to do with this issue, its the design of the center section.

Sorry to all you who dont know.. but its true...

Yea, the backspacing wont cause the wheel to fit or not.

Im just saying a 16" rockcrawler has no issues clearing the caliper.. Im running them, and no is a lot of folks. I even have the 16" wheel package.

Doesnt even Rockcrawler have two differntly made rims? I thought that when I was looking for rims for the 04 tacoma that you cant fit the "D" shaped hole Rockcrawler rims, you have to get the circle shaped hole ones. Sorry I cant remember part numbers, but I thought there was a differeance.

I know the 15"ers have clerance issues on more than one make of steel rim, seen in on 3 tacomas. Not sure of the other sizes.

Speaking of idiot tire shop guys. I went in to see some different options for aftermarket rims for my truck. I don't know if the dudes books were wrong, but he said its near impossible finding a rim to fit a 4runner because of the huge positive offset, like a front wheel drive car rim, and any truck rim would stick out the fenders by 4 inches. I told him he was an idiot and to look at the stock rims on the truck. He said the book was right. I told him he was a moron and left the store. Maybe he got the truck mixed up with a second gen pathfinder or something.

This begs to question if the 15" rockcrawler wheels will fit my T100. I do wonder cause I was planning on getting a set and according to procomp they fit. I thought for the money they wre highyl worth it as although they weigh a bit more I heard they are tougher than alloys-any basis to this?

You can get the rockcrawler rims in 15x8 with backspacing of 3.75 or 4.5 for 6x5.5.

T100's have similar calipers to 86-95 trucks and p/u's, which do not have an issue with rockcrawler rims, so i dont think you will have an issue

Thanks, that answers my questions. Now the ? is what which rim...oh the choices.. My stock SR5 rims on the rear are ok but up front due to brake dust and the salts that were used here they are slowly pitting away.

I have the streetlocks 16x8 4.25 backspacing which I bought from my local 4Wheelparts and they put on...

Edit:
Mine were made by "Tech21" according to my receipt I remember.
