REVTEK 3" lift kit
Does anyone have any experience with this lift kit? Will it handle 285x75x16 BFG, A.T. tires? Are the stock rims ok with this setup?
I can talk the wife into this lift for the price! I know it! Only $312. plus install.
Please advise.

It's a fine kit, but I would not use it with the stock shocks. They are quite short and you will not get any additonal off road flex.
Plan on a new set of shacks as well. Then Revtek uses a spacer for the rear, what would be better is a lift spring like the OME 891 or the Downey Coil.

You can get into new OME 891 springs in the rear w/ shocks for about ~250. They're stiffer springs than stock, but if you carry alot of gear in the back (like me), its a smooth ride. This will net you about 3 inches of lift. For the front, I went with SAWS, but since it sounds like price is an issue, I would stick with a spacer. All depends on what you want to spend. If this lift is just for looks, I'd say go with just the spacers all around, however, this will not give you any improved offroad peformance. As far as the tires, yes, you can fit 285's on the stock rim. As far as rubbing- thats an ongoing debate. You might not see much on-road, but if you start flexing it off-road, it seems to depend on what you have for rims, lift, etc. Different people have different opinions on that.

Price is THE issue.
I want the lift mostly for looks and I'm not bothered by a little rubbing. I had a 1980 4x4 Toyota P.U. that I stuffed 33x12.5 on 15x10 rims without a lift. It rubed at full lock on big bumps. Doesn't bother me at all.
I'm a backpacker and the extent of my wheeling is forest service roads to get me to a secluded trail head for hiking. Nothing competitive, just a bit of clearance and tread is all I need.

uberhiker, I know there are some members on the board who have used the Revtek kit, but I can't speak from experience. I was actually going to buy that kit, though, as I was looking to lift mainly for looks as well.
I went another route, using 2.5" front Cronfed spacers and Downey rear coils, giving me about 3" of lift. Also, I put new Bilsteins all around. I can give you an itemized price list if you want.

I'm thinking as soon as I have the money saved and stashed away, I'll go get the Revtek. It sounds like it is a fine kit for my needs.
Just have to wait for the wife to go on vacation. Easier to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission.... Heh.

On my 2002 I had Rev Tek before the Downeys. It is a decent setup. The kit was a little stiff because of the spacers, but it was fine for normal usage. As mentioned earlier, replace the shocks with something like Monroes from Napa. You should be happy with that set up. Cheap easy and practical.

Also make sure you have all the parts in teh package before starting when I got mine I was missing the studs but it was packaged wrong from the factory and Wheelers took care of it right away with next day air shipping of bolts. it comes with the diff drops too which saves a few dollars. Might also check with Mike on the forum here I think he may also carry the kit too.

I also have the Revtek kit and it has done fine. I am now looking for new rear springs because the factory stuff DOES in fact sag after a few months. Mine started off very level, and now is a good inch lower in the back. Still looks fine, but I hate the saggy butt look!!
I also reccommend replacing the shocks when u do the lift, because it is a PITA to do it later, and you will need to. My factory front struts started making noise about 2 months after install.
