which (rear) t case to use for dual (rear)

in the pic there are 2 t cases both are top shift.

t case 1 - top shift
- big drive shaft flange
- shift rail things comming out the front

t case 2 - top shift
- small drive shaft flange
- no shift rail things comming out the front

in my 95 runner is a foward shift t case.

i want to use a dual t case set up and can decide which case to use as the rear and which one to take apart and use the reduction box.

any help would be appricated. thank you.

Right is older tcase than the one on the left.
I think the rails are just sticking out due to the what gear is selected.
Get triple drilled flanges and that solves that issue.
If both are indeed top shift tcases it doesn't matter which you make which.

Typically a 95 has a 3.0 V6 so you will need the adapter for your 95 tranny and the dual case adapter.

my 1995 4 runner has a chain driven foward shift case and a 22re.
im pretty sure no matter what position i put the shifter in thoes things stick out.
my worry is that thoes things sticking out will need some hole to stick into if i use it as my rear case

You would need to modify the forward shift case to be a top shift style:

You could use the forward shift as the front case if you are currently set up with a transmission set up for forward shift case. But the rear case needs to be a top shifter because there is no transmission for it to slide the shift rails into for the shifter mounted there.

what i want to do is keep my foward shift case intact and use both of these cases.
Q- is it going to work or do i have to use my original t case?
2nd Q- i cant seem to find any write up on disassembleing my t case to put the adapter in on the net or on u tube. dose anyone have a link to there build that will show me how?

So you have a 22RE with a chain driver tcase now?

What transmission do you have?

Installation instructions should have come with the adapters you purchased.
If not they are on the TG website.

both are gonna be suitable for the dual case setup, the big flange unit is a "newer" unit and has quieter gears. if you want to use your existing case you will have to use it in the front, as the reduction box only, to retain the shifting capability (only if its gear drive). advanced adapters has or had a toyota install guide that had all about the cases section, not sure if its accessable on-line? try looking at the install instructions of maybe trail-gear or marlin crawler, as they will be able to answer your questions better. good luck

thanks for comments and posting links guys. yes i dont beleive it either its a 95 22re and its got a chain t case foward shift.
when i do the swap illl be sure to include alot of pictures.
as for the trans. i dont know ive looked for a tag on the trans but cant find anything.
thanks again as i move along with this i will post pics and ask for help.
hear they are all cleaned up and ready for disassembly

ok just found out that my transmission is on my door jam.
its a g58.
someone please tell me this will not be a problem because it says on a site the output spline it 26
