Rear lowering coils

Any way to make your rear sit about 1" lower And have real soft springs? My brother and I were talking about how nice it'd be to have real soft springs that'll droop a lot and have the ride height a tiny bit lower. I'd like to have this become real and have most the stiffness and rebound come from the shocks. I'm not taking about some expensive coil set up, I'm thinking like pull coils out of something else and chop em or anything like that. Any ideas? And experience? Lets see what you guys know! Thanks!
