Problems with 9.5xp?
I was wondering if anyone with a 9.5xp has had problems with it. I have had one for shortly over a year and have gone through 2 motors due to water damage, a motor that failed for no apparent reason ( no water was encountered and no corrosion was visible in the motor) and another one just died when I attempted to pull in the slack after putting on my new shackles, so im wondering if I just got a cursed xp or if this is happening to more than just me.

from the way this winch has worked/not worked from day one, i should have known that it would destroy itself a week before the biggest offroading expedition i have taken to date... way to go warn....

From your original post I count that you have replaced 4 motors to date. You are referring to motor itself and not the solenoids, correct? That certainly sounds like a lot.
I spent a good bit of time reading about winch issues on pirate4x4 and it doesn't seem like the 9.5xp is worse than average. You can find complaints on everything there but no more so for this model.
If you end up in a lot of water you could try sealing up the motor housing with silicone. Also maybe your bumper tends to hold water/mud more so than others so that the motor has difficulty drying and corrosion has more time to work at it. Does your winch get much use? If it does than maybe you are burning up the motors from extended use. (long pulls without downtime for cooling) You also make sure that your cables are 2 guage or thicker. As I understand that may also cause overheating.
Just some thoughts.

the xp is made for long pulls, but i never pull for more than 30 seconds before letting the motor cool down, water hasnt been an issue for the last two motors, and i have no idea what caused them to defect. for the iwnch to break 4 times in just over a year (1 year 2 months), there is no way that should be normal, i use a snatch block and im educated on how to use my winch, so misuse is not an issue here

to me, a winch newbie, and from just reading information on it.....
the fact that youre using a snatch block really pushes me to think you just had a bad one to start with.
id definately call/email warn. definately sounds like they should send you a brand new 9.5xp.

Killed two with water and thinks 30 seconds is a short pull?
I have run my XP to stall on several occassions, had it pull my truck against a ledge to extract stucks and flip rolls. I will never own another winch.
