it's powdercoated from ARB.

i painted it myself, on top of the powdercoat. use a good automotive-grade primer, and you can paint nearly anything...

I've talked with a number of autobody shops about painting over Powdercoating; none would gaurantee that the paint would stick. They all but gauranteed pealing. The only way they would do it is if the coating was stripped off first. That was 10 years ago.

I think that with the technology qvqilqble today, that most body shops would warranty their work. If the powder coat fails its not their fault, but if the paint fails, then they should be responsible. ask Andy (BAMACHEM) if he has had any problems, I would think the answer would be no and he did it himself.
that ,to me, says that a good prep job will go a long way!
Personally, I don't think there is anything wrong with painting the bumper and I say say do it.

i've beat the underside of it on rocks at tellico and i have yet to take any paint off the bumper. it's almost like it grips to the powercoat BETTER than to primed metal in my opinion. if anything, i have LESS chance of peeling than if i would have stripped it and then painted it.
