OME quote from a local shop...
736.01 = Parts
1339.51 = Parts and Labor
This for OME coils and OME LTR shocks. Seems high for labor but I don't know how hard this stuff would be to install myself. I want a better suspension setup without lifting the 4Runner more than 2 inches. What's the deal with all this differential drop and other stuff? I don't want to do anything but install new springs and shocks. Something that is more progressive than the stock setup. Maybe I should just do Tundra springs and Bilstein shocks?

It won't be that hard to do yourself, lots of us have done this mod. Should be lots of members in your area/region, just put out the word for free beer and pizza and you'll probably have a few willing to help!

I took advantage of a buddy that runs a local shop. He ordered the OME and let me install it after hrs. (he put the truck on the lift)
It took me not quite 2 hrs for rear springs and 4 shocks. (with my own air tools)
hardly $800 in labor (10 ish hrs?!?!?!)

for $800 you can fly me there round-trip airfare and still pay me to do the job. When they see someone come in the shop that doesnt know much about the job they always try to screw you over first. If you REALLY dont want to do it yourself you can always try to negotiate a better price. Inform them that people that KNOW say its less than a 4 hour job start to finish in your driveway, like half that with a real lift and nice tools in a commercial shop. If it takes them much longer than that they dont know what they are doing IMO. I dont mind paying a mechanic $60-80 an hour since they have to pay for the shop and tools, but dont screw me over on the ammount of time it takes.

I ordered the complete OME setup, it'll all be installed for $100 including alignment, not a bad deal, so I'll be into this whole thing for $730 when it's all said and done. I think doing an OEM replacement would have cost more so I can't complain.

I replaced my worn suspension with all new Toyota parts and shipped to my house the shocks and coils were less than $380 shipped and installed with an alignment was another $150 so under $550 for me as I ddin't want it taller as the GF already complains about how hard it is to get into.
