Off roading quesiton

hey guys, I was talking to a friend, yet he is a heep owner, but anyways, he was telling me that since i go off roading alot i need to get my transmission checked after everytime i go offroading?? He said something about a box, but anyways he says i should because if mud gets caked on there water will seep thru and mess up stuff? He said a guy a jiffy-lube told him this...i just wanted to run this by you guys and see what you have to say. so should i be cautious and get it checked?

The Heep automatics are horrible w.r.t. water and mud. The filler tube is not sealed and it sits way down low on the tranny, so if you get in water/mud much over the bottom of the frame, it will suck in the water. One person in our club has an auto in her Heep and I think it has been clogged with mud 3-4 times in the last few years. The big problem is the mud gets sucked into the filter, clogs it then the tranny starves for oil and you are dead in the water, so to speak. Never seen a Toyota automatic have trouble with water.
