need 6" susp lift for 96 runner
I got a stock 96 4x4 4runner, and heard that certain chevy springs will work for the back to give me a 6" lift, but I dont know which ones and where to get them from....also im pretty sure that I can just use a trailmaster or fab tech 6" taco lift for the front?...any info would be appreciated.

talk to SC4runner. he knows a lot about IFS lifts this big.

'96 has coil springs in the back - will take quite a bit of fab to get them on there. The perch location is kinda fussy. You can get at least 5" from LC coils.
More importantly, why do you think you need 6" of lift? If you REALLY need to be that high, you should consider SAS...(or buggy)

right on guys thanx for the quick response , but actually ive heard from guys here in hawaii that there is certain chevy springs that just bolt in...and in hawaii 6" susp is pretty common....if you guys ever look up on the web or even my space some hawaii trucks you will see alot of crazy high lifts, like 9" susp, and 3" body is common......but mostly everyone is going to a straight axel, and doing 12" bent leaf springs with shackles, blocks and BL

How big tires so you want to run? 35x12.50 is really pushing it for the IFS. If you want to go bigger, a SAS is highly recommended.
IMHO, if you're looking for off road capability (with Toyotas) lift is the least "bang-for-the-buck". The plan for my '93 is Tires-Armor-lockers-crawler-SAS. I mean, why put lift on now, when you know the IFS will eventually be a limitation and cut it off?

I was going to run 33x15.50 on some 15x14 weld rims........I actually found out that some landcruiser springs and a spacer will give me the 6 I need for the back, then ill just buy my friends 6" TM he had on his 04 dbl cab taco for the front.....yeah one day the SAS will happen but not anytime soon.

i think yotatech needs to create a new suspension section called "Hawaiian Lifts"
seriously, i don't know if i've seen a lift as high as 6" on the 'mainland'. i think its a HI thing. yeah, talk w SCRunner.

i certainly hope that you're building a steet queen and not a wheeler w/ that much height.
you can run 33's on a simple 2" body lift and the stock suspension and some 16x8 wheels, by the way...
with 6" or more lift, you should have 37's or more - but the IFS wouldn't take that stress either.

Actually Bamachem these trucks with this height looks good, and can still crush cars and get us to hard to get to beaches with no problem.....Were not really into trail and rock climbing competions and stuff.....just cool looking high trucks (really high) but still functional for what we need them to do.....and the standard width for rims over here in the islands is 14", but most guys run 18" wides (if they can afford em) we like that stalky aggressive monster truck look not the tall top heavy look with skinny rims, to each his own I guess.
Oh yeah and nice 4runner SC4runner, thats all I really want is a 6" susp and prob a 3" bl for now until the SAS

i agree with andy, i am quite sorry to see toyotas abused in this fashion. I was hoping only american trucks were put through that kind of treatment. Oh well, different strokes for different folks.
As for chevy springs, unless they are coil springs off of some new deal, they will not bolt in to a 96 4runner. A taco possibly, but 3rd gen 4runner's have full coil suspension. A taco lift will work for the front, however, as SC4Runner has shown.
You might also try Pirate4x4.com. They may have more of the info you are looking for, since your lift is pretty extreme, and they have more extreme rigs over there. I wouldn't mention the front, but just the rear.

lift your 4runner however you want, but you cannot bolt on 63" chevy leaf springs on the rear of your coil sprung 4runner.
compare your rear suspension to a tacomas rear suspension and you'll be able to clearly see the differences.

For the front, maybe you can mix a long travel kit like totacl chaos (www.chaosfab.com) with a bracket kit like trailmaster or Procomp. I believe on the bracket kit lifts for your year you lose upper control arms and tehy replace it witha strut. If that is the case you can't do a long travel/bracket combo. But if there is a bracket kit that retains teh upper arms, you coudl do it. Advatanges to this I see would be that you get your lift, increased width (about 6") and your ride and flex will actually imrpove. Downsides would be trying to keep an alignment.
For the rear, You really would have to build new links over 5"..... Id on't see larger coils fitting in there with the stock geometry. If you switch to leafs, it will be alot easier to get that muchg lift in the rear. And honestly, I don't think converting to leaves would be as difficult or as costly as trying to get the coils to happen.
