my new locker and gears

hey guys i bought a 3rd member off craigslist with 5.29 gears and a detroit locker in it, i got it back and noticed that it has a hole in the top for an abs sensor or a speed sensor my original rear end does not have this what should i do, or what have you guys done

yeah thats what i figured just wanted to know what you guys thought, and also how do you think my truck would do with a spool in the rear and that detroit up front

Would do awesome off-road. Thats what I run spool in the rear, detroit up front, and 5.29's Its a caterpillar. But if your on road at all id get the detriot in the rear and get another detriot up front, or an ARB.

well im gathering parts for my sas both cv axles are shot ive got the axle, steering, hanger, shackles, now i just need springs and more gears but i cant decide to put a spool in or just use my detroit in the rear and leave the front open for now

I would wait on the front. You got the opportunity to complete an axle, meaning the rear.

Anytime you can finish one axle during a build, and have it done right, id go for that.

You want this thing done right, id save for the front detriot and gears. For now you got a bad donkey rear.

yeah i guess your right i do still need to get some gears for the front and knuckle rebuild kit then my sas thread wil begin

it might be a while before i get the money for the locker tho, i forgot to mention i got the 3rd member with the gears and locker for 100 bucks and my axle for free

Sounds pretty close. Gears and lockers are always the hardest on the wallet.

Before you slap that third into your rear check the backlash, gear pattern and bearing preloads to make sure its not a backyard redneck install. Also look for markings on the Ring gear and figure out what brand it is.

There are quality gears and cheap crap gears (US Standard... Trail Gear are examples of lesser quality gear sets)

do you know what the spec should be for backlash seems to be pretty well in spec i wil post a picture of the letters and markings on the gears ive looked and couldnt find anything online to see what brand they are

the gears are marked on
the ring gear-A6 YG TV6-529 304
pinion-looks like someone put 2.460 and on both gears they put 164 not really sure what this means but i checked the backlash its .05 or .005 cant remember its not much tho
