My backyard budget boost!

EDIT:::

I found that it would be much easier if you make the 5" (inside) sch 80 pipe 1/2" shorter than the 6. that way you dont have to do much grinding. just make the to pieces even on one side, weld them together so that one side has an even surface, and the other has the outside 1/2" longer. and weld in a 2" piece of 4" sch 80 on the inside, sticking about 1" out on the flush side to retain the coil better. Today I took everything apart and welded the the pipe all together. I figured out that I need 26" extended shocks. I am going to get some this weekend.

well I just sold my 85 wheelin rig .. new job in the city... need a commuter. got a 94 curb hopper. it was dragging its hind end like a little doggy. looked bad. so I got some new slicks, yanked the lame-bars, and did this... I didn't want a BJ spacer lift or anything that I would have to worry about the CV angles, or $ in general (im cheap)

soo

oh yeah.. you can use the 4th gen 16" wheels with 5/16" wheel spacers at Carquest for $25, otherwise the front caps dont snap in

got some Schedule 80 5" and 6" pipe, 1.5"

ground (with a big angle grinder) out the inside/edge of the 5" so it fit snug on the upper coil brackets for the rear coils. There is a LOT of grinding involved for it to fit over the stock coil seat. a lot. if you have a torch that might work better, then grind it out more to smooth it. Maybe some Sch. 40 would work better but Im not sure. then put the 6", then the coil seat rubber thing on bottom. unhooked the rear shocks, strapped the coils with some ratchets so they were compressed, and jacked one side at a time on the frame. the coil popped right out. slipped it all up on top while I put the coil in. presto lifto. Then I jacked up the front of the truck on the frame, and cranked the torsion bars 1". Didn't really notice a stiff ride at all. Even without the sway bars the car rides great, but I think I can hold that to the new pro comp shocks.

When I fix my welder I am going to weld the two pipes together solid, and then weld a 4" pipe inside like a sleeve, to hold the coil in place better. hasn't moved around so far though...
Oh, and I need to relocate the lower shock mount higher now by 1.5"... or maybe get longer shocks, but eh

first thing I need is an Aussie locker for the rear... should have one in a few weeks...

sits at 21.5" from ground to bottom of pinch seam below the doors
