movin on up
this is how my 4runner currently sits:
31's, stock gears, stock height, ez-locker rear, truetrac up front, 4.7 gearset in the case. i was hoping to be able to swing an SAS, but my engine needed a rebuild and that ate that budget. but i need new tires this spring anyway so.....
waiting to go in:
4.88 yukons for the rear
and a used 4.88 factory set for the front.
also a set of balljoint spacers and i got a stick of scrap 2" diameter polyetherimide rod from work, and cut it into a 1-1/8" body lift.
working out a deal on some used 33" mtrs so, now its just a matter of getting everything put together!!

update: got the balljoint spacers in and the front diff regeared.
got the used MTRs mounted:
above you see one of the old 31s standing next to it for comparison.
since im using 12.5" wide tires on the stock 7" wide rims, and stock backspacing, the tires wouldnt clear the UCA with the balljoint spacers installed. to remedy this, i installed some 1.5" wheel spacers:
sure the front is wider now, but it isnt really noticeable, and the hub is better protected now:

if you do a search, you will find all the info you could ever want on the balljoint spacers.
if you are talking about the wheel spacers, they have the same effect as wheels with less backspacing, but some people have had them loosen up and wheels have even fallen off while driving, thats why i used the locktite
