If you are going to re-gear your front diff, IMHO you should at-least add a TrueTrac LSD.

I have had mine in for almost a year, I did quite a bit of wheelin' (Moab twice, CO4RJ, here at home...) and it works very well. Sure there are times when a full locker would have been nice. But for the price compare it was well worth it. Ask the guys that have wheeled with me, it does pretty well. It is certainly better than open diffs.

I'd do an SAS and lock the front up at that point. In fact, if you wanna do it right, throw 60s under it cause you know that you're going to want the strength ARB all the way! Might as well put in new axles while it's all out and the housing will have to be shortened anyway. In that case, they're cutting everything off so throw disc brakes on the rear. And you'll want the caddy brakes with the ebrake built in. Man, with all that strength I should put bigger tires on as well, so you'll want a new lift kit. Now you know you can handle the dual t-cases, so get done up. You're going to have to get new drivelines done for the 60s so it's a good time to get ahold of Jesse and make up some nice high travel drivelines for you.
Oh what a tangled web we weave. Don't forget about the second mortgage on your house to pay for everything

Originally, I was planning on creating a headlight conversion that would basically be for appearances only. It would have utilized a custom fabricated metal housing and a set of Hella 90mm projector modules. The idea looked good on Photoshop, but would have cost nearly $700. That's about 1/3rd the cost of getting regeared. Then, I made another phone call. Through a buddy of mine who has a friend who owns a diff shop, I can get either 4.88s or 5.29s installed for $1500. That would include new seals, everything. So, i could get regeard and get a set of 255/85/16 tires for the same price as just getting geared at another shop.

The 4Runner's getting geared next month!

Wanna save some money?....and get a pro install at the same time? Start with the IFS front. Take it out(you can do it as it requires no special tools) and send it to me. You can still drive the truck around without a front chunk in. Include 400 and I pay the return shipping. I will generate a link for my site of the install. http://zukaz.tripod.com/ifs.htm lets do the 529 ratio. ZUK

ps----the rear will be 500 and I pay to ship it one way back to you.........so you can save yourself almost 600 bucks if you are willing to do some simple labor.....and you get an install that is better than the shop will give you. Food for thought.

Alan, without manual hubs I thought your front would poop with no axles in it.

Get some sort of front locker. A crawler will just make one front tire spin more slowly.
