Good deal. Looked like there was a slight up-hill grade to the driveway too. Can't wait to hear how it does on the trail.

Steve actually if you calculate it out you have:

252 to 1 crawl ratio

2.7L 5 speed first gear transmission ratio: 3.954
Chain driven transfer case: 2.566
Marlin Crawler box: 4.70
Ring and Pinion: 5.29

3.954 x 2.566 x 4.70 x 5.29 = 252:1

Did you get my email on the limiting straps?

Cool...very cool. Probably about three years away for me. Are you going to make any other upgrades to your drivetrain, like heavier driveshafts or clutch, or you just going to wait and see how it holds up stock?

Clutch is new and the Marlin Japaneese one, drive shafts have been re-tubed.

I think the key with the lower gears will be to not ever use the gas pedal, just idol through everything.

All I want to know is did you use the tripod?

Looks great!

How often do you actually think that you will be using double low? I read about people complaining that was actually too low, but I don't have one so I don't know.

In my opinion the crawl box is the most significant improvement you can make to your rig. My buggy has the dual setup with 4.7s' in the rear case , and I cannot imagine not having them. I did for about 2 years with my old 84xcab run AA 4.0s' in a single tcase , and that was actually "good enough" for most things in fact running the Rubicon I never felt like I needed lower but as I started doing more serious trails the need became very apparent.

Probably not much in South Carolina, Georgia, On the GWNF ATV Ramp, Wisconsin or even Florida, but in Arizona quite a bit.

Run what you bring, Build your truck to wheel where you live.

Welcome to Arizona thank you you for taking a dent back.

South Carolina doesn't have any offroad trails that a long. All we have are land that just happened to be pretty bad eroded so thats where we wheel, all which is illegal. Now go to Tellico, I'm sure you'd be using your double Low, and quite a big if you run the hard trails and not the easy ones Explorers do.
