My wheeling buddy built his truggy with AllPro SAS Kit and just about everything they have to offer for his build up. I went with Marlin and we both have had excellent experiences with both.
I would argue Marlin for a couple reasons, but probably the most predominant one would be that Chris Geiger now works for him. In my book, slam dunk.
Marlin's a top-notch outfit for service, shipping, and very friendly.

I've used both. I had All Pro install an ARB carrier in my rear axle third member. I drove out to Hemet from Los Angeles and dropped off the diff and they shipped it back. It arrived on time and the work was just fine. I spent about 10 minutes looking around the shop but no one really seemed to want me there.
I had Marlin rebuild my 5 speed transmission. Marlin allowed me to sit next to him at his workbench and explained every detail as he rebuilt my transmission and then we installed it together at his shop. We finished about 3 in the morning and he offered to let me sleep on his couch but I opted to drive back to Los Angeles.
So for me All Pro is a good business and they do fine work. However, with Marlin you're treated like family and that's worth more to me as a customer.

Marlin has a BBS, allpro does not. You can have an online conversation with many of the marlin staff, including marlin himself.
I grew up in Fallbrook, graduated 95.

Both lenghthened/strengthened accordingly and balanced
Smooth as glass
About $500 for both but $400 of that was parts w/ $100 labor

i want to change to 4.56 gears and put a rear locker but no front. well not for right now anyway. maybe when i get some more money.
but i need more articulation and strength.
i am not planning on only doing a sas. but that is first on my agenda.
when i say im not going extreme i mean like extreme extreme. i am definently going to do some wheelin off the trail. and i will probably get more and more extreme as i get used to it. i am just starting to get into the offroading thing.

Lock the rear before anything else. You will be amazed at how much of a difference that makes all by itself. An IFS rig locked front and rear will go further than a SFA rig only locked out back. Flex is not the be-all and end-all.

yeah maybe i will lock up the rear then do the sas then do the gear change then when i have the money do the front locker. that sound like a good plan?
what were your guys steps to building your rig?

Wheeled stock first, then with better tires, then rear locker, lift, so-on and so-forth. After doing this with 2 rigs, my 85 is just getting built from the ground up, i havent even driven it yet.

A lot of us on this board believe it's best to learn how to wheel stock and progress up with suspension, tires, armor, lockers, crawler, then lastly a solid axle swap (or the crawler at the same time as the SAS).
Like joe said, a locker or two will get you farther than 2 open solid axles. People can run the rubicon with ifs.
Ask your parents if they ever had strawberries from the airpark strawberry farm. We grew those strawberries.

and thanx for the tips guys. what are some good lockers. i want one that can lock and unlock. probably not arb because of the price. i actually remeber seeing some that were locked and unlocked with a cable or mechanically or something. i thought that seemed pretty cool instead of electric. i am not a fan of electricity in vehicles. does anyone know what lockers im talking about? or have any other recomendations?
