Hi Im able to get a pair of manual locking hubs for my 97 4runner for about 60 bucks. My questions being new and everything are; does my yota have a 7.5" IFS and how do I tell Its size? also are aisin hubs good quality. last but not least one im sure ill find with a search is how do I install them?

Aisin hubs are very good quality. But I think to install them on a 97 you have to swap in the axles and spindles from a Tacoma.

you cannot just bolt the manual hubs onto ADD spindles for 1997. You will need a manual hub conversion. Do a search for it, there are numerous threads explaining what to do, as well as info on Downey offroads hub conversion.

Aisin hubs are the very best quality IMHO. Better, stronger, and more simple than Warn, Mile marker, etc etc.

 

he can but he'll have to press out the auto hub wheel bearings and get man hub bearings.

youll need non ADD tubes for the front diff and man hub CVs

 

So when it comes down to it are manual hubs even really going to be worth it for someone like me? for this 4runner all I plan on doing is a wabfab 3inch with diff drop and some 33's as I plan on keeping this my daily driver and something I can take on some not so insane trails. I would like to keep the ISF too

 

Nah, most likely not.
I wouldn't even drop the expensive of the 3" suspension lift for what you're wanting.
Simply pop a 2" body lift on it and add the 33's and you're good to go.
Your on road ride will be better this way.
Your COG will be lower this way.
The truck will do fine with what little off roading that you'll be doing, this way.

cog wont be lowered with a 2" body lift. it will be raised.

if youre not going to wheel it on difficult & technical trails, leave it as is and just get some 265/75/16 all terrains. no point in going 33's and having to deal with everything that comes with it...

 

What he meant was the COG will be lower rather then doing a suspension lift. This is because a body lift on raises the body. A suspension lift raises the frame, drive train, body, ect. Thus doing a body lift will not raise as much weight therefore the COG will be lower.
