Manual Or Auto for crawling?

I feel the exact same way man. Of course this is only on trails with rocks the size of my tire or so. For most trails I don't have a big complaint with stock gearing, but then again, most trails don't have much actual rock crawling.

Couple of things.
- 1st, whomever said (way back on page 1) to PM me (FredTJ) because I drive a manual and can give tips (when crawling the big rocks) is WRONG.
I don't drive a manual, I drive an auto and will NEVER go back to a manual tranny for crawling.
- 2nd, for what's best for crawling, one simply needs to look and see what the VAST MAJORITY of "pro" crawlers use => AUTO, for good reasons..
There is simply no comparsion between manual and auto trannies when we're talking about rock crawling.
We've (friends and myself) who have run both, get a kick now of watching those that run manual trannies (even when geared a zillion to 1) make "easy" obstacles look hard, while those running autos take "hard" obstacles and make 'em look easy.
BTW, I haven't waded through all 3 pages of this thread. Just skimmed the first page and jumped here to reply.
