Long Travel Rear Suspension Done

I got the rear end of the 4Runner mostly complete. I got it from OC Off-road this morning. They did an amazing job for what little time they had the 4Runner. This setup absorbs impact far better than the stock setup. The rear vertical travel is at about 16" right now.

I still need to get everything dialed in. The rear shocks will most likely need to be revalved, but thats not a big deal.

Why did they put the axle on top of the springs?

Probably to control axle wrap better.

I didnt kill it, I enhanced it.

The 6-10th is better than nothing

Mounting the springs under the axle will provide more room on top of the housing for additional suspension travel on compression (moot point on the 4runner since I would have to cut out the wheel well), a lower center of gravity and increased lateral stability, as well as reduced axle-wrap/wheel hop on acceleration.

I guess spring under is good for your setup, I couldn't imagine it being better for anything requiring lots of clearance. I'd hate to have to deal with the Ubolt ends breaking off. Couldn't you have done it with them flipped? or no?

Nonetheless.....looks sweet. Wish there was some desert around here to play in.

What length are the bypasses?

Looks like a well done rig. I am not a go fast guy but that is the hardware to do it right.

Long springs get wrapped. Going under, and specifically going under with nearly vertical shocks should make gobs of travel, good rear planting and a smooth ride.

If you want ground clearance this setup is not for you. I dont know about the u-bolt flip. I could look in to it.

The shocks are 2.5x18" Foxes.

Looks awesome! We definitely need to meet up and hit the trail soon. You're gonna spank me in the fast stuff for sure. hahahaha Your rig reminds me of that grey one we were oogling over, but your rig is a definite improvemnet on many points. Now you just need some aire bumps all around and some bypasses up front. SWEEEET!!!!

Probably just air bumps in the rear and bypasses in the front

Are you going on the big bear run? I'm going to try and make it to that.

Did you trim the fenders at all? Any rubbing? Did the springs give you some lift? Bring that thing to big bear!
