I am running Old Man Emu torsion bars. They seem to do better then the Rancho torsion bars on my other truck. Dont know exactly what you guys are talking about on the other post, but if I offended somebody with my web site, I apologize.
Kind of wish I would have done the coil over front end instead. Looks awesome!!!!!!!!!! Most likely rides alot better then mine too.

Sounds like jmach1 has his bars cranked, but somehow he's getting killer flex too, which usually doesn't go together. Might have to check out those OME t-bars.

I have the sway aways and I try to keep lift to a minimum. I usually sit at about 2-2.5" of lift i believe.

Jmach- no worries, I wasn't offended, just wasn't sure of the jackson reference.

Pinnacle- Glad to hear the tripple pack was soft that is my biggest concern, I want my buddy to have a soft ride and decent flex. Not that you had much chance to flex them at pismo. My trucks coming along, I don't want to hijcak your thread about it, I'll post on my old thread when i get it back. So if 1-1.5" is enough for us (Which it is) would you recommend this pack vs. a downey complete spring pack?

I'm at about 3" of lift with 255/85/16 (33x10)

Its pretty soft with the top off, with the top on it will be even softer. I'm planing on putting the top back on this weekend. If your looking for anyting over 2" I would say the downey pack, but under that the deaver would be best. You dont get the hard bottoming out with the overload removed and even when I did bottom out it wasn too bad.

Ya know, I will have to measure front and rear and give the actual height and get back to you. I have 4" alcan springs on the back with extended greasable shackles. The truck sits very level from front to back. But it did get good articulation while we were in Moab.

I may have missed it earlier, but what do you long travel guys use for axles? They aren't stock Im assuming since they have to be longer...
I'm referring to the front of course.

us old skool IFS guys are lucky, we just use T-100 axles

the t-100s and tacoma era trucks need custom lengthened axles.

my understanding is the newer gen trucks use Tundra axles. But maybe thats just the 3rd Gen 4runner long travel.
But I do agree it is much easier being able to use existing axles.

I think the tacoma and the newer 4runners used modified tundra axles to keep 4wd.

I just use a Dana44 stuffed full of 4340 material.

Sucks in the dunes.

They are 25mm Old Man Emu torsion bars. I ordered them and 90% of all my other parts from Off Road Solutions in Arvada Colorado. I paid about $200 for the pair.

This pic is not the best, but I guarantee that when you held the stock one in one hand and the OME one in the other there was definetly a difference between the 2. The alignment shop looked at the whole set up kind of weird but the truck alligned fine. The mechanic said that I was probably at my limit on height for the torsion bar. But it rides smooth and absorbs all the bumps well at high speed as well as when wheeling. I am vey happy with it.

I always kinda equivalated more torsion crank with more flex. I have the same thickness torsion as you, but I can only touch the compression bumpstops if flying through whoops or flexing with the nose pointing downhill. I think our shocks might be the difference.

I have 2.5" diameter shocks your's appear to be 2" or less. Perhaps mine are too aggressively filled with nitrogen or valved too stiff. I have already dropped the nitrogen from 200psi to 150psi. It helped a bit too. I do about 60% flexy stuff and 40% quick stuff so I will probably want to valve my shocks in favor of softness.

It looks like the coolf flex shot from Moab might have been pointing downhill, which would make sense.

Is it really THAT bad in the dunes?

What springs do you have?

Good observation, I was at the end of Hells Revenge and "Yes" I am slightly down hill but my Right rear wheel is on a 2 foor rock which is compressing my left side front end.

I also have that huge ARB and winch in the front, adds alot of weight to the front.

Not to be a jerk, but before you answered me about the torsion thickness, I had sent an email to OME (I am impatient), here is what I got back in response to the diameter question:

23.4mm diameter, compared to stock 22.6mm diameter

So your bars are actually 23.4mm according to OME, that would explain why your front end flexes so well, plus your weight distrobution because of the rock.

I'd consider getting lighter bars, but I do like doing some high speed stuff and I'd hate to have it too soft. How does your perform under quick conditions?

I stand corrected.
My truck is fun to drive over dips in the road or just flying up my drive way gutter, you feel nothing in the front end due to it absorbing so well. Here in Colorado, our sort of wheeling is "slow speed" due to the amount of rocks on the trails. the front end does very well on this and actually smoothed out the ride compared to my 90 toy without the Chaos. Not at all like Moab. The rear end is a different story. Rides real rough back there.

I looked up the 25mm OME torsion bars on the internet and found that these are
used on the Land Cruiser. That would make sense since Land Cruisers are so big and heavy. If I put those on my truck there probably would be no suspension, ride like a brick probably.
