tc is correct in that the most probable fix is to cut and turn the knuckles and perches. however i have seen death wobble caused by loose steering and suspension components aswell as tire pressure. i've also seen a second steering stabilizer band-aid the problem. if you've already cut and turned it you should try moving the axle forward to get a better pinion angle. this wont fix the death wobble but will keep the 350 from blowing up u-joints.

I'm about to say the heck with it. I have 4 trucks,
99 ranger 2wd(daily driver)
my yoyo(weekend warrior)
77 F-100 351m 4x4(next project in line)
87 F-250 302 d60 rear (truck sittin on blocks lol)

Im really thinking about selling the yota and starting on the F-100. I just hate to give up after all the time and money i invested in it. So frustrating.

Check the caster angle on the front wheels. That is the most common cause of death wobble:

I used to have bad DW at 35-40 MPH until I changed the caster angle about 1 - 2 degrees and it is gone now.

so 4crawler is sayin i need to put shims under the leaves in the front, and it will fix 2 things, pinion angle and DW? thats what i got out of all that.

5* camber will likely fix everythng? Can i make my own shims or do i have i have to buy them?

5* atleast. And it will hurt your pinion angle...alittle.

DW is, in my experiance, a combination of things causing a harmonic that builds on itself. bad or loose TRE's, loose knuckles, bad trunions, bad wheel bearings, tires, toe, caster, etc... all can contribute to death wobble.

I found something guys, the bolt that runs thru the eye of my front leaf spring is alot smaller than the one that should be in there. when i take of or stop you can watch the leaf spring move ever so slightly forward and backward, could this be the culprit causing my DW?

Anything that is loose can let any source of vibration up front grow due to resonance and if that goes on long enough, you get death wobble. But that may not be the root cause, but worthwhile fixing that to eliminate it as a possible cause.

yeah and the centering pin doesnt REALLY keep your axle from moving front and back. If your axle is moving your u-bolts are loose. I check the torque on my u-bolts and steering arms regularly!

on my drag link both ends have some play in them, and wheel bearing on passanger side aint bad but you can tell its startin to wear.

Other than that those 3 things are the only contributors i can find, other than my center link being a lil bent. Not to mention my front end could use a good alignment.
Wht you guys think?

Crank the drag link ends down as tight as you can get them, especially if it is a dropped drag link (S-shapped type):

Fixing DW is basically a process of elimination, get rid of all the play in everything you can find and have a shop check the alignment (toe in and caster angle) and then check the tire balance.

HA, im not surprised you have death wobble.....but then again if the truck in your avatar is your goal....i see a trailer in your future.

The TINIEST bit of play can start the chain. you need to post up pics of your truck and the suspension.

I guess third check's the charm?

As mentioned above - all you need for DW is one small thing to start the chain at the right frequency.

in addition to the stuff you found (too small of bolt etc) are you positive your drop hanger is correctly mounted?..worn tires could contribute too...my 35's were worn, swapped them to the rear and no more wobble.

the drop hanger is correctly mounted, but i want to go back cut it all out and redo it. I knotched the frame enough for a peice of squre tubing to run across welded it in, then attached my hangers that i built to it. I'm about to post some pictures, and i dont know how lol

had the same problem... In my case it was the alignment.
