What made you decide to mount them level rather than angling them up? Seems like you would get a lot better clearance if they were angled up, especially since they stick out so far.

This brings up and interesting question I was wondering as I looked at thoe things:

Is there more protection when the slider hugs the body or when it sticks out?

I mean, the slider doesn't appear to be farther than the wheels, so it's not a problem there. It will also keep rocks farther away from the cab. Is there anything that says closer is better?

Looks really good. Ive got my set sitting in the garage ready to be installed. Trying to get it done next week.

Did you paint them? If so what steps did you take to do so?

It will give you a few inches or less of clearance on either side. Personally, I think it's more useful when it's at a small angle and can be used as a step, but then again I'm not a master rock crawler or offroad beast. There are situations in which I'm sure it would be worth the extra few centimeters on either side, but I know I'll never encounter them. So, Beau, for us sparse wheelers, it shouldn't make a huge difference

i mounted them straight because they are on my daily driver and i also wanted a nerf bar ,running board but dont like the big u shaped tube type.
i will also be getting front and rear bumper from big country customs probably next year so it will look better then. The inside rail is mounted directly below the rocker.

here are some more pics from the underside and a pic of the welding, there is undercoating sprayed on the welds
