You don't need a 1k axle swap kit for a 3rd Gen or a 2k one or a 3k long travel kit.

Put that pig on 315 MT/R's, run it with 4.88 gears, think about a crawler, add two ARB's and you have a truck that will do anything, crap an axle once and a while and stay pretty. Not to mention it will be great to drive.

Agreed, and if you still worried about breaking CV's, throw some warn hubs on it and get their Hub Fuse then you'll break a easily replacible part, change it out with a allen wrench and carry on.

unfortunately, in the 3rd gen world...manual hubs arent as easy a swap as they are on previous years. either a) find rarer than rare early taco setup & do the junkyard swap, or go the downey/ors conversion kit$... either way, youll probably be swapin broken CV's regardless

again

I beleieve the T-100 axles are EXACTLY the same as 1st and 2nd gen axles, except that they are longer. That's it. Even if the length were not an issue, you would not gain any strength. That magazines is f'n retarded.

As far as tierods go, my kit came with beefier ends to be used with the stock links. I upgraded to the Chaos heim steering kit, which is much beefier and cost about 400.00. Even if I went and bought the chaos Idler (400.00) we would still be under 1000.00.

As to keeping steering strength on an early IFS truck, keeping the links as parallel to the ground as possible is your best best.

As far as upgraded CV's, someone posted a site on here a while ago with slightly upgraded CV axles. Other than that you are jumping into the high speed/desert racing parts bin. Porsche Cv's are beefy, but are about 1k for a set.

3rd gen steering sounds to be pretty strong, I wouldn't worry about that part of it.

American truck magazines are worthless. They keep up on parts from Fabtech, Skyjacker, and Trailmaster. They only care about big advertising and Big american vehichles.

4WD Toyota Owner is a godsend. I refuse to read anything else.
