IFS Bumpstops
I realize there has been severel threads about bumpstops but i think i have something not said yet. I bought my yota and i has a 6 in lift. Somebody put 4in body lift blocks between the a-arm and the bumpstop making it bottom out real quick. I was just wondering if it would mess anything up if i took them off leaving the stock bumpstops in the stock position? I didnt know if it would travel enough to pull the cv axle out or anything. Thanks.

Its not really a name brand its just blocks in the back and the regular stuff with no brand name on them. Its a 1994 toyota pickup daily driver/ trail rig. And 33/12.50/15 Maxxas Buckshot. And i dont have any pix but as of now the bumpstops are about a inch or two away from the a-arm and i really would like to have more travel in the front than that.

we pulle dthe bumpstops out of a friends 88 toy 6months ago way improved flex then we pulled front sway bar now he can rub fender with 6inch lift and 35's. has been wheeled hard and never pulled a cv apart yet. but if ur worried u can always cut urs in half and reweld together to shorten it. Have fun make friends....

Those would not be "body lift blocks", those would be placed between the frame and the body in order to "lift the body". What you are talking about are the bump stop extensions. You might try putting in a lower profile bumpstop or simply cutting down the stock bumpstops to shorten them and allow a little more travel. You do want the bumpstops to stop the suspension before it compresses too far and causes damage to itself or other components.

I am possitive they are body lift blocks and it looks like it was riged in other words. My buddy has the same blocks on his truck. i guess what i am trying to know is if i would be able to have the bumpstops in the stock location without the truck bottoming out and tearing things up? Sorry i didnt have this clear.

Well, they may be spacers of some sort, perhaps a recycled body lift block, but in that location they would not be lifting the body, only spacing the bump stop to match the lift. Maybe try cutting down the spacers a little to allow some more travel. And post a picture or two, might shed some light on the issue you are having.

Looks like a normal spacer block from a bracket lift kit to lower the bump stop. You might try a slightly shorter spacer, for example if that one is 4" tall, try something in the 3"-3.5" tall range.

Wouldn't that be for a IFS Drop bracket lift??? I have not worked on one of these but I have see a few. A body lift will not have these brackets on the bumper stops. You can raise the body 10" and not need these.

I'm sorry, I do apologize, I could have sworn somewhere it stated that it was a body lift. I guess I miss read somewhere.
Anywho...I think the best thin to do is take them out can cut them down and re weld them. Just be sure before you cut them have it flex (I know IFS Flex...) and see how far it will travel and how much you need to cut out. Go slow and take your time and it you should be alright...should be.

Or if you can't find anything locally, I have some 3" tall stock that I could cut out a pair of spacers that you could try. Would run about $15 for the two spacers and $7.00 shipping.
