I think im a step ahead
i think im a step ahead of the game with the whole breakage and reinforcement thing on my truck. months ago i broke my spring buckets off the frame, and we replaced them with home made 3/8 plate buckets which were much stronger. now i see total chaos is selling spring bucket gussets. well then i broke my motor mounts off the frame, and now i see a few companys making weld on motor mount brackets. well just today i snapped a spindle in half and now i see total chaos has a new spindle gusset for 96-04.

i think it might have something to do with the massive amounts of air in a 4,000lb vehicle 
actually i think what the real problem is that even at half the adjustable lift these donahoe coilovers are just too stiff for the rest of the suspension, at really high speeds they are great but its just so punishing going over obstacles at low speed it makes it way harder than it needs to be on the rest of the front end. its definately time to sell them and invest in some fixed 3" lift coils.

Or call Donahoe/Icon and see about some lower rate springs or softer valving ... really, the coilovers aren't the problem. Just about everyone on TTORA uses them and doesn't see breakage like you describe...

yeah i really love the coilovers but they just get too stiff when they are cranked up so high. but beleive me for the crap i do to my truck on a daily basis the fact that i dont break a lot of other things is pretty amazing. softer springs would be a good choice but i would just rather have the fixed height coilovers which would provide better travel and a softer spring rate.
hopefully once i get my new tires on and see where my limit for rub/flex/turn is and crank the coilovers down as low as i can then it will be back to normal but with them this stiff its just un-necassarily punishing for everything else up in the front end. also need to get some limiting straps so i dont break another spindle
