Question Got a winch with bad brushes

I got a winch with my truck when i bought it. it doesn't work needs new brushes. not sure what kind it is. i need an idea of how to fix it/get parts/costs.

will post pics in a couple of hours or so. also ill look at it clean the mud and find the brand so i could get maybe a part number online

Are you sure it is brushes and not the solenoids that are not working? For brushes to wear out, it would take many years of winching to do that. Think about your starter motor, the brushes in those last for many 100s of thousands of miles, while the contacts in the solenoid will wear out several times over that same period.
