That seems like a good idea, I would want to see it at work first hand before buying something like that though.

i could only see it working where its dry. You're not gonna be able to dig out mud and keep the mud out while attaching the drum then running rope. I Could only see it being practical in a limited environment.

 

And it probably costs as much as a real winch

Seems like something for those jeep guys who use their winches so much, that they need a backup winch.

I've seen that idea before, much cheaper though, but same idea.
