I want to install a front locker on my truck. I am thinking about the EZ-Locker b/c its cheaper than most and plus for me(an occansional 4wheeler) this would be best suited for my driving style. Let me know if you have heard of anyone doing this install and what products they used. Thanks

 

first of all, do you have a rear locker? if not, i would recommend putting the ez-locker back there

also, if you are still hellbent on a front locker and dont have manual lockout hubs, you will need them

 

On the Aussie Locker website it talks about how placing a locker up front is much more productive in forward movement. So this is why i was wondering about the front locker install. The back is always a option but for long trips over the mountains where i live isnt such a great idea.

 

I've been up in the air about an EZ-Locker as well, so I'm going to monitor this thread.

I always planned to have mine in the rear also, I don't think I have ever lifted a front tire in the air while wheeling, it's always been the rear tires that lift and make me stuck.

I can't count the number of times I have cursed for not having a rear locker.

 

Well the install pages i have read about say that they are easy to install at home. So i may end up putting one in the rear anyways. if i dont like it ill pull it out. but i would still like some feedback from others that have lockers.

 

I had an EZ locker in the back axle of the last truck. It is a night and day difference for the off road capabilities of your truck. I did the install in my yard, the only thing they don't mention is you will probably need a bench vice or more ingenuity than I could muster if you don't have one. It takes a bit of getting used to once it's in, and especially in snow, but if you drive in the snow I would put it in back, not up front. It's by far the cheapest way to bump your truck up a couple notches in off road ability.

 

if you put the locker up front, you will have a harder time steering your truck, plus you have to worry about the weaker IFS components compared to the rear axle.
