Question Front Dual Shocks

I've search the forums and can't find anything...

I'm replacing all my old Rancho 5000's with new bilsteins (most likely)

However my goal is "soft ride"...not necessarily for street, but for offroad down in Baja where the ruts in the dirt roads are maddening. The problem is that I have dual front shocks and I want to get the softest ride possible...I just wanted to see if anyone had any reccomendations other than bilsteins. I'm thinking that the bilsteins may not be too good to run in the front since they're dual.

As of right now I'm planning on going two 5150 BF5-A195-H1 (255/70) in the rear and four 6100 B46-0359 (180/75) in the front. Do you think I'll get the desired result or still too bumpy?

At this point anything besides my crappy 5000s will be a HUGE improvement.

Thanks for your time and feedback.

Ken

honestly if you want a softer ride, I would check into get some ball joint spacers. Generally these provide lift, but what you can do is install them....rather easily....and then they will allow you to relax your tosion bars. This will make the front suspension more active. Removing your sway bar or getting sway bar disconnects will actually allow the suspension to function independantly.

As far as shocks. I found that the Bilstein 5100's were a little too pumped with nitrogen for my taste...They were not only stiff but also seemed to lift my truck a little. You might want to consider Doetsche tech shocks, I have seen a few people with the dual shock setup running them. But Bilsteins are good shocks too. WHatever you do, if you plan on going fast, get resevoir shocks. The extra oil allows them to stay cooler and keep away from causing shock fade.

All in all here are my suggestions:

BJ spacers
Sway bar disocnnects
Resevoir shocks.

I've also heard that Doetsche Tech is one of the softest on the market but I don't have any personal experience to back that up.
