front diff carnage

well as some of you know, i kinda, sorta, slightly messed up my front differential on a wheelin trip a couple months ago. and by messed up, i mean destoryed.

the spider gears were gone (one just cracked in half), as was the carrier. chipped teeth all around. so in case you're wondering what such damage looks like...

lesson to be learned here? learn from my inexperience, and keep the wheelspin in check. that's what led to the damage. it may have taken me twice :pat: :pat: but i'll be sure to watch the spin now, and remember some parts just aren't as strong as i'd like to think.

it's done and done.

i regeared and locked last week, so the only parts i had to buy extra other than what i was going to anyway were spider gears. those ran 200. brucets had a spare carrier i could use. you might say i lucked out a bit there.

Why did you get new spiders if you were getting a front locker?

Let me guess, 4 low and a lot of gas with a wheel in the air?

Anywhoo, sorry about the damage. I thought the CV's were the weakest link, and would have snapped before you damaged the ring and pinion.

Yea. Im surprised your CV's didn't go first.

Wheel spin will definitely cause damage. Especially while its in the air then slamed down.
