Felt left out not having a winch so...

After talking with people and doing lots of reading for the past couple weeks or so... I bought a Milemarker 9000 2 speed hydraulic winch. Also going to get the ynthetic winch rope and aluminum Hawse fairlead, now I just need to get a bumper made

Couple of the main reasons I went this route, last month I saw a big beefy Warn electric drain the energy out of a Jeep. True the other 2 guys didn't have any problems but I really don't want to get into messing with the electrical system in my truck. All 3 of them were winching up snow covered hills trying to find a road with me hanging on the back with a recovery strap. Another factor is the stories a couple friends told me that had Milemarker hydro winches, the stuff they did was unreal. Now the argument comes with the "what if the engine stops running". For me if that ever happens, there will probably be someone else there to help. I don't wheel alone anymore after getting stuck once by myself.

Anyway, enough rambling on... here's a pic of the new winch Going to talk with a friend today about making me a front bumper. He's building a rear one for me tomorrow after I smashed up the chrome one

Congrats man. You can argue either way for electric or hydro in a winch, but one things for sure. You can winch all day long!

i've heard that the Toyota power steering pump isnt strong enough for the hydro's, let me know how that works out for you, and if you hear anything i might need to know. I am proabably gonna get the hydro milemarker if it fits in my bull bar.

I heard this also...and comparing power steering pumps the yotas doesnt LOOK strong enough....but I have no proof of this and its only hear say....let us know how it works out for you, I'm really curious....

I had a Warn on my Jeep with dual batteries. I never had a problem with it... I figured if I ever got a Winch again since I heard the yota power steering pump couldnt handle the milemarker...but if it can then I'll probably go with a hydrolic, if I ever do get a winch again...
