Doubler issue

I just bought a 87 4runner. 22re. It has a doubler installed with hi low in front and stock transfer case behind it. He told me the sticks get jammed sometimes when doing 2wd low. He said I could only use low on the front stick when in 4lo on the back stick. He then went on to tell me it could be fixed by shortening the shift rails by an 8th of an inch and it should fix the problem. Could anyone shed some light on this or tell me if this sounds correct. I really want to be able to use 2wd low but dont wanna get jammed up. Thanks.

That does sound correct. The bummer part is you need to dissemble the cases to trim up that shift rail.

Any help on how to do this would be greatly appreciated. Is it the shift rail in the doubler or the tcase? Pretty unfamiliar with tcases and shift rails.

TG has great instructions on how to take apart tcases. You just need to trim either , when the front case is in low, the shift rail wants to stick out the back, but it cant because the rear case is in high, pushing its rail out the front. (iirc)
