Check engine light
Sorry guys, not a offraod specific question here but I checked the general tech area and didn't recognize 90% of the names, so I thought I'd go to the folks I know. Besides I'd never remember to check for responses since I only seem to look at the offroad area. Been off the board for too long, moved to Fort collins (from denver), new job, and got engaged so haven't had time for much wheelin, Summer's comin so I'm starting to get antsy.
Well ...to the question. My check engine light has been coming on lately after I fill up the tank. (I know about the gas cap being tight and have checked it when it comes on) It will usually go back off once I'm down around half tank. Anybody got any ideas on what's goin on before I head down to the local dealer and pay off somebody's kid's college tuition? I don't have the computor gizmo to check it myself.

Autozone or those other places might be able to check it for you OR loan you out the tools to check it for yourself.
Are you topping off? There seems to be an issue with the Tacomas re: topping of and gas going into some valve or something. Seems strange that the CEL would shut off by itself though.

Yep, I usually click in the little gas autopilot thingy on the handle and wait 'till it stops when i gas up. Now that i think about it I don't think I had the light come on the last time I didn't do a fill up. You know of any place I can find more info on that happening?
