cheap 3rd gen susp. lift

ok i really want the sonoransteel # 1.51 but am going to hold off due to money.
so for the time being i have enough money for 3" revtek & 1"bl from 4crawler which i hoped would clear 33x12.5 on rims with correct backspacing(which i dont know yet)

i really didnt want this spacer lift mainly because i was examing my truck out with rear flexed to max and found that if i get spacers itll only stuff same amount as stock but 3"higher, and as for droop i probably wont get much more than stock seeing as how i can max my stock shocks out on full droop right now. keep in mind revtek says new shocks arent required. add shocks to the cost of revtek.

so my question is will i clear 33x12.5 with the setup i am planning and should i waste my time with this revtek crap or just get some type of spacer for the front w/ ome springs w/ larger shocks for rear so i can actually get more flex outa it. basically what other ways can i achieve around 3" of lift for next to same price as revtek.

any help would be great.

I am working on doing the exact same set up!!!!
I am very interested in this as well as I too can do the same as you.
I know you can fit that tire size but as for the actual flew and such, I don't know.

I am a college student and want to do a cheap lift for now till I can get the money for the Sonoran Steel Lift #7.1

So yeah....

but the way I wheel now,
but the time I do get the lift I want, everything else will be broken....

And to stop wheelin is not an option


EDIT: I just looked at the Heavy Duty Set-Up for OME and It run about $618

It's only about $118 more than the other set-up I was considering but it is only a suspension lift, gratned i could still get a 1" bl from Wabbit...

trust me i am a firm believer in doing it right the first time, but for $300 you cant go wrong. i NEED new tires but im not gonna waste it on 31 or 32 like i have now to only buy a lift and need tires in a few months. so i have money for a cheap lift, 5 tires & rims.

so if i got the ss lift i want then i cant buy tires thus im at stock height still with ÅÅÅÅty tires while i look at my ss lift in the box.

anyones else got alternatives to revtek?

might almost be worth it to get trd tundra springs w/ shocks for front & fzj80 springs n shocks for rear instead of revtek. i can get a deal @ toyota which might bring me around price of a revtek. then i can save up for the small things like adjustable pan hard, soft bump stops. things you dont get with revtek anyways.

thoughts?

you can get the 1" bl and go with 285's and just do alot of trimming. then get the rest of the lift later, or go with 255/85r16's both a 33" tire.

imo, just save your money and do it the right way first. maybe dont wheel so hard until you can do it.

ya ive changed my mind about this a million times already. i might as well save the xtra money cuz it wont take long. cutting is out of the question, i didnt even plan to wheel this runner so soon.

I'll say go revtek (or any spacer) for awhile - I did. It gets you lift to fit bigger tires which gives you more clearance and... is cheap. Save some money and in a year buy the good stuff and sell the revtek for 75% of what you paid for it and it's all good.

well lookin at kylet's truck pics made me realize i can run the ss lift with my tires for a while cuz im running 265/75 now and in 1 of his pics he has 265/70 which dosent look bad. might just get the ss lift and save for tires after that.

As everybody else has said, and having gone through this debate a long time ago...save your money and do it right the first time.

Word of warning to anybody in a '99 and up wanting to do spacers...BEWARE! Do research on the right size first...I went with 3" cornfeds front and rear and it was a DISASTER.

Just do it right the first time or don't do it all. And yes, 265's with the new lift will look just fine until you can get bigger meats on.

I did the Daystar 2.5" spacer lift about 2 years ago. In fact, I'm still running the front spacers to this day. It's a decent, cheap temporary fix. Eventually, your rear springs will sag with spacers. They just can't handle the stress. I swapped out my stock springs and spacers and went with LC 80 series coils in the rear. The flex is awesome, ride is great and the height is just perfect. The front spacers ran me about $150 and the rear coils were something like $100. I did new shocks at the same time, but that's really not necessary. Maybe that's a cheaper option for you now?

I say hold out for the SS kit. I went the Daystar route and then pieced together my current lift from there.

I would have not wasted so much money had I purchased a complete setup from the get go.

(Granted at the time there wasn't a good setup offered but SS has made it incredibly easy to get the best parts the first time around.)

look at toytec. they have an OME front and rear 3" lift, the front one uses an ome coil with topout spacers to achieve the 3" (its probably closer to 2.5" though..) but with a BL and that lift set up you will clear 33's easily and get some great flex too

Price: $ 339.99 for that front set up and ome rear coils.

i love how my rear 891's flex.

ya i was lookin at 1 of the toytec lifts. i am kinda leaning toward the 3"spacer up front with 891's in rear. there so many ways to go about it im just not sure. reality of it is i havta wait till i get my tax returns back to see exactly what im working with, im more or less in the planning stages.

Hey, Im new to the boards, but been lurking around for a few years. I have a 1999 4Runner Sport All Black and was reading this thread ... I clicked on
4x4FINK's link to check out his Rig and WOW ... Your Runner is SICK!! I too have been wanting to lift my Truck but dont want to break the bank. I will continue to read up and save up at the same time and hopefully when the time come's I make the right decision. 4x4FINK what's your total lift? Also where did you get the LX450 wheels?

dont go with a 3" spacer up front, youll bust cv's. ne4roc member drew did and thats not from wheeling.

2.5" up front, max

Also - gaining lift from coils (OME) or Tundra Coils will be much better than a big spacer in the coil pack. I ran the Revtek 3" lift for about a year and it got me by but it was a pretty harsh ride.
