yeah they do it seems.
at least i'm not paying anything for this.
and on the bright side, this is the first toyota problem i've had with the runner. everything else has been due to offroad use/modifying.

yeah, have the extended warranty with penske (who by the way are dicks to deal with, and pretty much make it as hard as possible to cover any work, and do it quickly). so after all the things they suggested to fix first (read cheapest first), it came down to the transfer case. so my dealer just had toyota cover it, even tho i'm at 67,000 miles, a bit past the toyota warranty. but hey, they did so that's cool. it was the actuator limit swtich within the transfer case. oh well at least i got a new transfer case and 4wd ecu and other minor stuff, so i *should* be golden now.

Mine was never right from day one, when I bought the truck new. Delayed engagement was common for me, but now the entire system is unresponsive.
The FSM is very scant in its coverage of the system which only makes matters worse.
With only 43,xxx miles on the truck and two years of payments left, I am frustrated.
Needless to say, I'm very interested in this thread and any solutions that may come of it.

Hey Curt, you should find out if the older xfer cases are interchangeable with the newer ones. If you get to the point of changing in out, it might be a cheaper and more reliable way to go.
I would love to have the AWD option, because it's nice on slippery roads in the winter.
Knowing all this, I would't be too attempted to get one though.
