PM SteveO, he took some pretty cool vids at Moab with his camera. I'm not sure how he mounted it, but he can give you some ideas.

its a bummer that the videos on the explorerforum thread no longer work...they were really cool.

You could rig those up to a rack or rollbar.

i am, some day, going to build a mount that mounts off the passenger's a-pillar.

using the mount for the "oh ÅÅÅÅ"/ entry handle. ill bend up some aluminum to hold my handicam. i have yet to off road it in (went in my friends ranger to hungry valley.... id never abuse my truck like he did tho... i love it too much...).

maybe ill work on it some next week. im off to the off road show tomorrow, and a "date" on sunday.

I was thinking of using a comptuer web cam but the quality on those things is so dinky.... unless I could find a good on.....

interesting. now that i've got a newer digicam..id want to experiment with funky clips in strategic places with my older one. a buddy of mine had one under his frame i think..pointing at the rear axle. was a cool lil clip he managed to get. hmm maybe a hockey stick with a clamp on tripod being held by the passenger?

if you have a roofrack, you can get one of those mini clamp on tripods. may not be able to handle the heavier cams..but for smaller digi's should be suffice. being able to operate it remotely would be cool too. id probably put some plexi in front or something to protect it from the elements though. a cam that has some sort of image stability control would help too..esp if hardmounted to the truck

whenever im out wheeling..im always the one driving and takin pics. any vids is either from outside on the trail during spotting..or with my hand sticking out the window while im driving

If its just you in the truck/runenr why not fab up a mount to the seat headrest pillar? I know I could do it in my T100 easy..some sheetmetal from a hardware store, screw wingnut to secure the cam and voila.

Even doing the same thing but making it jut off the a-pillar would work too..

If I'm wheeling without a passanger I hust rachet strap my tripod down to the floor/seat. 1 leg on seat and 2 on floor. Works for me. But if I have a passanger they video....

I have an outdoor extension camera that I stick to my front bumper when I want to tape off road. It gives a sort of strange 'disconnected' feel to the video because you can't see the rig as you go down the trail, hovering a few feet above it.

Today I am going to try something different. We have an event going on and I am going to try a live webcam from my truck during it. If all goes well and I can get signal during the day, the photo will update every five minutes during the event.

ROLL BAR off road camera

I am running a Body / Roll bar mounted helmet cam on my rig (by adrenaline systems) I also mount it using a head strap. The effects I get are great as I can get cab and body shots with great quality.

My base set up is:

My DVR:

http://adrenalinecamera.com/product_...roducts_id=304

Mounts:

I have been using this set up for the last 12 months and the results reliable. Would recommend and I have done a load of research and this is the best set up for the money.
