Broke a birf now steering sucks

Ok, i broke a birf last weekend, now i can only turn like 30% each direction. Then i have to muscle it over the rest of the way. but it still pulls, almost like its locked up. The diff is welded, but the hubs are in the free position and its in 2wd. Which before i never even noticed the locker till it was in 4wd.

Thanks

Assuming you have removed the busted birf already, busted birf trashed your trunnion bearing or bearings I bet.

If not, you need to inspect everything on that side for damage and replace.

Get Longfields.

Do these bearings come with the knuckle rebuild kit?

Longs will be here for my birfday but i can only afford the 27splines without inner axles...

But those busted bearings can cause my truck not to steer right?

Don't waste your time with the 27 spline. Just that much more expensive when they break. Put stock back in until you can afford the 30 spline.

im on 37s and locked in the front and rear, until i get my front diff setup(thanks wabbit) Ive heard good stories about the 27s and how people have never had problems with the splines, its the bell that breaks. But I'll see what i can do...

Well, maybe. But you might put stock ones back in and wheel on them forever too. The point is, there is no guarantee on anything but the 30 spliners, so just put the cheapest thing you can in until you can afford the 30's.

Well i broke down and bought some 30 splines for the price of 27 splines, got a stock knuckle rebuild kit, but forgot to order a 54mm socket and im having my 5.29 diff setup as we speak.\

Plus i found out that 27s have a warranty, but now i will have no spares, but shouldn't need them as im goin down to 35s most likely.

SOM - Try and I will be down there on the 9th and have a 54mm socket. I have a spare birf too that I cary but honeslty no way will I break my 30 spline Bobby Long's. My R&P or a Hub is gonna go before they break. Both my old Birfs broke at the bell not the spline... But still I am glad you just got the right ones. And since you might move down to 35's you should be ok.

Troy and I could come down Friday night before we run Liberty on the 8th and wrench maybe...

Let us know!

Maybe! one question how the hell do i put the axle shaft with the snap ring into the birf? I should have a completely rebuilt front end this weekend\

You cant use stock birfs with the new longs axles because they are 30 spline, the stock birfs are 27 spline into the bell and 30 out.

IS there a detailed write up for rebuilding a knuckle? i dont wanna miss a gap.
