Body lift install question

I ordered a 4crawler body lift and plan installing it as soon as I get it. I went with 1.5", Im hoping that combined with the OME lift should clear 285's which I have wanted for ever now. I have 2 question,
1. I plan on lifting the body with a floor jack, Is there any special place in the middle of the body to place the jack and piece of wood? Or just anywhere in the middle? Also, is it safe to lift the body by jacking it up on the pinch weld or should the block of wood touch up under the body?
2. I had heard it is possible to crack a door window when jacking up the body from the flex. Is it better to have the windows rolled up or down when lifting the body? I would think down because it would seem the door has more structure to it then just the window frame and would flex less. Any info or suggestions from someone who has done a BL would be helpful. Thanks

I jacked up the body using a block of wood on the underside of the body, and I dented it. Then I did it on the pinch weld and had no problems. Here's a link to my install with pictures, it should help

You don't break any windows or hurt anything. The body on your 4Runner is very strong, no need to worry.

check out roger's instal instructions at www.4crawler.com he actually has it all explained with pictures...

as far as the windows are concerned, i dont think it really matters... the only vehicles i have ever heard that shatter windowns when jacked up are corvettes because they have a fiberglass outer structure and fiberglass flexes a lot mroe than metal.... my windows were down when i did my bodylift, and i had no problems... i always leave my windows down when i work on it in case i need to get inside of it.... i just put a big 2x4 acroos the floor, not the pinch weld, because i figured across the floor and being a larger piece of 2x4, that it distributed the weight over a larger area... i did not dent anything

You can read the full instuctions on-line:

http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/ForSale/...ft_HowTo.shtml

and also another copy of Adam's 3rd gen install writeup:

http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/ForSale/...er/index.shtml

As far as where to lift from, someplace where you can get the jack into, block of wood to spread the load and try to find the approx. center of gravity of the body to lift it equally front-rear. If in doubt, err to the rear, this way if one end lifts higher than the other, it is in back where there is less things to get in the way.

Thanks for all the info...ill be sure to post some pics when its done and the tires are on. Now, BFG MT's or Firestone destination MT's..lol I think im leaning towards the BFG's. I have only heard good things about the MT's, and the 2 sets of AT's Ive had have worked great.
