BJ spacer ?

Yes I searched this and I can't find anything on it, was wondering for those of you who are running 33"x12.5" tires with BJ spacers what is the BS on the rims you are using? I know 33"x10.5" will fit with no rubbing but I would rather put the 12.5" tire under there. This would be on a 89 PU

Since your compression isnt changed, if you cant fit it before a BJ spacer, you cant fit it after.... If you want to run a 33x12.50 your either going to have to add a bracket lift, body lift , or serious fender trimming.

Not necessarily. The thing with BJ spacers is that the tip of the upper control arm doesn't really fit inside the wheel anymore, and can come pretty close to rubbing on the sidewall of the tire. The 33x12.50 tires will fit fine inside the wheel well with just a little trimming, but the sidewalls may rub on the outer edge of the upper control arm.

When I was running BJ spacers I had 15"x8" wheels with 3.75" of backspacing and 32x10.50 Super Swampers. I don't think I could have fit 12.50" tires with those wheels. I would guess that 3.5" backspacing would work.

thanks ROCKET, although I know that there are a few on this board that have 33"x12.5" tires with just a BJ spacer up front, trimming, yeah that is not an issue but what are you guys doing because the upper control arm is what I am worried about rubbing on the sidewall of the tire, and for those who have this setup can you air down at all is does this just create rubbing issues? I think a 3.75 BS is what I want for a rim but am not sure that it will work. Thanks

I'd be willing to bet 3.75" backspaced rims would not cause any serious rubbing issues. But if they did, it would be very easy to fix...take a grinder to the U-control arms and shave them a little. You could also use wheel spacers. Or just get 3.5" BS rims like Beater suggested.

I have bj spacers, and standard 15x8 rims. I run a 33x12.5 BFG with no body lift, and the only things i had to do to the fender was bend a body seam back, so it was flat, and then take off my mud flaps READ no serious trimming, in fact, no trimming at all.

And no, you definetly can't fit them in there with out the bj spacers, unless you have a body lift or fender trimming.

OME Long travel shocks work well too. It's the standard one, but it works great.

i hadnt even the chance to search and came up with the answers to most of my questions!!! how are those BJ spacers to install? basically liike replacing a bj yeah?
black diamond shocks are 15$ apiece? man what a deal...
Helping my friend do this to his runner, and i had to spend 1000 on hoes.

the spacers are a bit more than replacing the balljoint. You have to use a cut off wheel/grinder/whatever you've got to cut out part of the A-arm.

Yeah, cheap shocks aren't really the way to go, but whatever.

There is nothing wrong with superlift shocks. If you think Rancho's suck or any other $35-$50 shock, then yeah they suck. But for those willing to live with that level of product or forced to due to budget constraints, then I would prefer to get that level of product for $15 instead of $35.

ive been running 33x12.5x15 for more than a year now with no major issues. i have a few rubbing issues at full lock when i turn, but nothing major. im running the black rock crawler rims and i believe the backspacing is 3.5". im not 100%, i got my rims from 4wheel parts and when i went back to look on their site to check for this question, a 3.5" backspacing was all they had for a 15x8 6 on 5.5. so im pretty sure its a 3.5". after the bj spacers are installed, a small crank on your tbars and youll be fine. ive never trimmed anything off my rig and dont intend to. there are other methods. good luck.

i agree completely, thats why i have Donahoe CO's on my truck with deaver 9's and Bili 7100's relocated for high speed stuff, you cant compensate for bad suspension...
That said, it seems to me that anything will be better than his ratted out vatozone shocks, and he can get these w/o wasting much $$$ and then decide what he wants to do and spend down the road...
if there is a better shock applicable i'd like to hear about it.
Thanks for the install heads up, i have no problem grinding and cutting on other peoples rigs and he has faith in me.

wheres a good place to buy BJ spacers because i'vee been thinking about doing that too because i have almost no wheel travel
